Winslow Park

Barrow's Goldeneye
Winslow Park is best in winter. It sits at the mouth of the Harraseeket River and commands a wide view of Casco Bay. During the coldest part of winter, the bay may become completely frozen. Otherwise, it is a great place to view common eiders. Like nearby South Freeport Landing, common and Barrow’s goldeneyes are seen regularly. Red-breasted mergansers, common loons, buffleheads, and long-tailed ducks are all likely. Greater scaup are occasional. There is a seasonal campground at Winslow Park and admission is charged in summer. Facilities are closed in winter but the parking area is plowed throughout the off-season.

Directions: From Route 1, turn onto South Freeport Road. Follow 0.7 miles and turn right onto Staples Point Road. Follow to Winslow Park at the end.
