South Freeport

South Freeport Boat Landing
South Freeport Boat Landing is a working dock on the Harraseeket River. It looks across at Wolf Neck and downriver toward Winslow Park. In winter, it is one of the more likely places in Maine to find Barrow’s goldeneyes, often close to the docks. It is not unusual to find common and Barrow’s goldeneyes near each other for easy comparison. Long-tailed ducks and red-breasted mergansers also favor these waters. Large concentrations of Common Eiders are usually present in the distance.

Directions: From Route 1 at the junction with I-295 in Freeport, proceed south on Route 1 and then take an almost immediate left onto Pine Street. Follow about 2 miles to the end. From Route 1 in Yarmouth, turn right onto South Freeport Road just before the Trading Post. Follow for 1.9 miles, turn right onto Main Street and follow downhill to the dock.
